Trip Overview

Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is an unparalleled wildlife experience that offers visitors a rare opportunity to come up close and personal with endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The trek involves hiking through the forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains, and with the guidance of experienced rangers, visitors can locate a gorilla family and observe them in their daily routines. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, and once found, visitors are allowed to spend one hour in their presence. This unforgettable adventure offers a unique insight into the world of these majestic primates and their endangered habitat.

Day-to-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrival at the Airport, meet and greet by our representative right after you exit the plane. After migration check ins you will head to the arrivals point where you will meet our driver guide with office representative then be transferred to the hotel where you will spend an overnight. Check in at the hotel, refresh and get ready for dinner.

Overnight at Radisson Blu Hotel

After breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel for a Kigali city exploration with visits to historical landmarks such as genocide memorial, Belgian camp, before you drive to the North, Musanze.  On arrival you will head to the hotel where you will spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Overnight at Tiloreza Ecolodge

After breakfast, early morning we transfer to the park. Complete our park formalities, briefing and grouping later we embark on a once in a life time experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long-lost cousin.

This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on earth!!! You get so close to these awesome giant primates in their natural habitat. You stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience.

Return at the base, drive back to the hotel where you have lunch and refresh. Afternoon stay at the hotel relaxing or visit a cultural village where you will learn more about Rwandan culture.

Dinner and overnight at Tiloreza Ecolodge

Breakfast followed by the transfer back to Kigali and to the Airport in time for your flight to Serengeti. End of services!

NB: Time allowing, we can do a canoe trip on River Mukungwa or Twin Lakes (optional)
