Tour Plan
Day 1: Arrival in Bujumbura – Welcome to Burundi
Bujumbura International Airport pick up, after greetings and briefing, meet your guide who will then transfer you to the hotel.
Day 2: Bujumbura – Rutana - Gitega
After an early morning breakfast, take the road to Rutana, enroute visit Karera falls later head to Gitega precisely in the southern sector of Burundi with a stopover at the source of the Nile where we are going to have a local guide for more explanation, arrive in Gitega in afternoon time, visit Burundi museum and Gishora drum sanctuary to learn more about their culture.
Day 3: Gitega – Bujumbura city tour
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Bujumbura via Bugarama, enjoy Bujumbura city tour for the rest of the day. The city tour will include the museum and zoo, the city’s monuments,the commemorating Stone of David Livingstone and Henry Morton Stanley.
Day 4: Bujumbura – Ruzizi National Park
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Ruzizi National Park located at 10kms from the town where we will take the boat ride on Ruzizi River while searching for hypos, crocodiles and a huge crowd of water birds (among them a good quantity of migratory birds from Europe and Asia).
This is a good destination for bird watchers, drive back down town, relax at Saga beach while breathing the fresh air from the lake Tanganyika, evening time, enjoy watching famous Burundi drummers.
Day 5: Bujumbura – Bukavu - Congo
After an early morning breakfast, drive to DRCongo via Rwanda, our drive will take us through Bugarama and Ruzizi border, arrive in Bukavu aroud noon.
After refreshing, you will head to Kabare and visit the kingdom of Bashi with chances of meeting with the king or the queen, learn more about the kingdom of this area.
Evening at the hotel.
Day 6: GKahuzi Biega National Park - Eastern Low Land Gorillas trekking – Lwiro
After a very early morning breakfast, with your packed lunch, drive to Kahuzi Biega National Park precisely in the southern sector and experience Eastern Low Land Gorillas trek, after the trek, write comments t, if there is enough time, drive to Lwiro and visit the Scientific Research Center built by Belgians long time ago.
Optional activities to be done at Lwiro are:
The Museum
One of biggest libraries in Central Africa.
The biodiversity room.
After the visit to the Scientific Research Center,drive back to Bukavu.
Day 7: Idjwi Island Visit & Goma City Tour
After early morning breakfast, drive to the harbor and take the afternoon fast shared boat to Goma navigating on Lake Kivu, along the navigation, see Idjwi island which is the biggest one in DRCongo and the second in Africa after Madagascar.
Arrive in Goma before noon time, enjoy the full day Goma city tour including the visit to 2002 lava rock and various buildings half-buried by lava,a visit to the Goma Volcano Observatory and meet with the Director for a guided tour of the facility if possible, have a ride on the ubiquitous chukudu, a local kickscooter used for transporting goods unique to this part of the world.
Day 8: Fly to Kinshasa
After breakfast, drive to Goma International Airport and take the shared domestic flight to Kinshasa.
Day 9: Bas Congo – Visit Bonobos sanctuary & Zongo Waterfall
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Chute de Lukaya and visit Bonobos in the sanctuary. After visit drive to Bas Congo precisely at Zongo water fall via Inkisi town. Zongo Waterfalls is an amazing waterfall and natural wonder found in very lost place in Bas Congo. You will enjoy a spectacle of waterfalls about 65m on rocks and produce natural jet about 10m which makes able a natural bath, water is coming from the mountain and it falls on the rocks from a height of 65m, and after that the water is scattered in the rocks from which water shower is coming.
You will take the advantage of that fresh shower. A real unforgettable moment with an adventurous spirit.
Day 10: Massana Beach
After breakfast drive back to Kinshasa, later meet your guide then drive about 10kms from the lodge and visit the Massana beach at the Congo River with its waterfall while seeing Congo Republic at the other bank of the river.
Day 11: Kinshasa
Morning at leisure having a well deserved rest, in the afternoon transfer back to Kinshasa.
Day 12: Departure
Transfer to the Airport in time for your departure flight back home. END OF SERVICE!
